It was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1st, 1872. Yellowstone National Park got its name from its Grand Canyon of Yellowstone canyon walls, but it is known for its wildlife and geothermal features. Yellowstone National Park’s most popular geothermal is Old Faithful Geyser. Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles. The Yellowstone Caldera is the largest super-volcano in North America.
